28 Jimboy’s Stores Throughout the Greater Sacramento Region Are Raising Funds and Awareness for Blood Cancer Research and Patient Services.
Sacramento, Calif. (May 6, 2016) The Greater Sacramento Area Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has announced that Jimboy’s Tacos, Inc. has become a new corporate partner in the fight against blood cancer. With the launch of their first annual fundraising drive, 28 Jimboy’s stores with locations throughout the Greater Sacramento Region, including Elk Grove, Roseville, Rocklin, Folsom and Grass Valley, are collecting donations to benefit LLS research and patient services.
“The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is honored to be partnering with Jimboy’s,” said Sacramento Chapter Executive Director Jenaye Shepherd. “As a Sacramento-based purveyor of fast-casual Mexican cuisine, Jimboy’s not only has a well-established reputation for serving delicious food, they also have highly regarded reputation for community service. We are very grateful that the management and staff of stores touching so many areas of our region have joined us to raise awareness about leukemia and lymphoma and to fund a cure for blood cancer.”
On April 15, 2016, Jimboy’s began displaying LLS information about blood cancer. Staff wearing special Jimboy’s/LLS fundraising buttons stating, “Help Us End Cancer” began asking customers if they would like to make a small donation to the cause. In just the first two weeks, donations have exceeded expectations by customers generously adding $1-$5 to the total of their meal.
“We are so thrilled to be partnering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,” commented Dina Guillen, Corporate Marketing Director for Jimboy’s Tacos, Inc. “Since its founding over 60 years ago, this family-owned business has made it a priority to give back to the community through food donations and nonprofit support. All of the 28 stores that are participating in this LLS fundraiser are very enthusiastic about being actively involved in the fight against cancer, and helping children and adults who are dealing with this disease. We have a very large and loyal base of customers, and it is heartwarming that they want to generously support this cause.”
The Jimboy’s first-annual fundraising campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will continue through May 20, 2016. With each donation, an iconic LLS paper blood drop is put on display to symbolize the fight against cancer and to honor the 2016 Boy & Girl of the Year, local blood cancer patients who are the Honored Heroes of the campaign.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Jimboy’s Tacos, Inc. are currently partnering in a regional campaign to raise funds and awareness for blood cancer. Inside the 28 participating Jimboy’s stores, the walls are covered with paper blood drops that symbolize a donation to help find a cure for cancer.
“It is really amazing to walk into a Jimboy’s store and see the walls covered with LLS icons,” commented Shepherd. “Each donation is meaningful, as 74 cents of every dollar goes directly to groundbreaking cancer research, life-saving drug therapies and essential local patient services. We greatly appreciate the support of Jimboy’s and their wonderful customers for their important contribution to our mission. Together, we can make a difference because everyone wins when cancer loses.”
The mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
